What If Apple’s New Product Announcement Flops?
I haven’t seen the hype machine on an Apple device this high since the original iPhone. If you took all the “leaks” and put them together on one device, or at least all the good ones, you’d have something really awesome. Unfortunately, that’s not going to happen. No matter what fairy dust they sprinkle on this thing, it’s going to fall short in some capacity to some number of consumers.
Here’s a list of things that could displease certain folks:
Apple doesn’t announce a tablet at all, they redo the Apple TV or something. Unlikely
It will cost over $1000. Unlikely, unless there is more than one version, which is unlikely
It won’t be subsidized by a carrier, leaving WiFi as the only connection method. Possible
It will only be subsidized by one carrier. Possible
It will be subsidized, and still cost over $500 out of pocket. Possible

The graphics won’t be powerful enough for app gaming. Unlikely
The graphics won’t be powerful enough for high end gaming. Likely
The graphics won’t be what the forum trolls think it should be. Guaranteed
Size of device and lack of physical buttons will make gaming less desireable. Possible
There will be a “home” button. Likely
The “home” button orientation won’t be where people want it. Likely
It won’t output 1080p. Likely
The positioning of the headphone jack won’t be where people want it. Likely

I’m quite sure there will be things not on this list that will get analysts, reporters, and other tech bloggers irate once the official announcement is made. And even more once the device launches. Personally, I’m looking forward to the device even though I have no intention of buying one. For now.
